In the Heart of Lumber Country, Custom Home Owner Insists on Vinyl

When former professional wrestler Bill Savage and his wife Betty retired to a quiet spot by the Willamette River outside of Portland, Ore., they built their dream house - a 6,000-square foot custom home with a price tag of more than a million dollars.
Aesthetics were important to them, but so was low maintenance, so they insisted on vinyl siding. When they approached Portland-area builder Rick Lesniak of Blazer Development, he had to be convinced.
"I have completely changed my mind about vinyl siding," said Lesniak; the Savages say neighbors insist on touching the house before they'll believe it's vinyl.
